Madame President  – 2015

JP has produced 15 episodes of the TV series Madam President; Madam President follows NOURA SA’AD, a deeply idealistic cabinet minister who becomes the first female president of the fictional Middle Eastern country Jabalein. Following her predecessor’s death and his deputy’s shameful resignation, President Sa’ad sets out to reconnect with her citizens before elections are held in one year. But Sa’ad has inherited a country restless for change, and generations of youth desperate for work. From water scarcity to refugee rights and corruption, Noura must crack some of the country’s most stubborn problems, while fending off her most rigid opponents, including the formidable Speaker of the Assembly, BASSEM, and neighboring President GENERAL NAJEM. Helping her navigate this political labyrinth is the cautious but pragmatic Chief of Staff MALIK alongside Press Secretary SAMAR, who wrangles a media bent on dissecting Noura’s every move.

But perhaps Noura’s most pointed critic can be found in spunky blogger MAYA DAOUD, who serves coffee with a side of sarcasm at the always buzzing Jadal Café.  Maya’s letters to the president have become the keenly followed blog Madam President, and her observations tap into the nation’s well of cynicism and doubt. She is the first to blow the whistle of hypocrisy, and the last to abandon society wide transformation.   From opposite perspectives, each woman wants to articulate a new vision for the country, their ambitions crisscrossing with each step forward.

It’s a yearlong battle for Noura Sa’ad, an unending series of compromises between her nation, her family, and her own conscience. But what she can accomplish and who she can convince? That’s under negotiation.

December 2015 – Generation Amazing

We have had the pleasure to join the 5 Young Jordanian football Ambassadors of Generation Amazing for one day in the opening of a playground in Shamiyeh – Aqaba were we interviewed them and talked about their experience.

Generation Amazing was launched in 2010, with a commitment to bring about positive change to the region using the power of football. The current phase of the programme was launched in 2014 in disadvantaged communities across Jordan, Nepal and Pakistan with the support of strategic partner Right To Play on the ground. In these communities, through the engagement of people, the construction of pitch infrastructure and the delivery of comprehensive Football for Development programmes, Generation Amazing is bringing about long term benefits to thousands of children and young people each year.

Generation Amazing is one of several SC initiatives that use football to foster sustainable social and human development, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. In 2010, Qatar’s bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ partnered with Reach Out to AsiaRight to PlayMercy Corps and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to launch Generation Amazing, a youth development programme that aims to empower a new generation of leaders to use football to create positive change in their communities.

October 2015 –  Drummer TV and CBBC

In cooperation with UNICEF and Drummer TV we have had the chance to meet Ahmad; Ahmad is a 16-year-old Syrian boy, who has taken us on an unprecedented and fascinating guided tour through one of the biggest refugee camps in the world – Zaatari in Jordan. Ahmed is like any other boy his age, except he’s had to leave everything behind, including his toys and technology, to move to the refugee camp.

Despite their camp having everything they need, from shops to a hospital, school and football pitches, life is very different to how it was before. Ahmed doesn’t let this affect his positivity though, and he finds new ways to have fun with his friends – even if it is in a desert sandstorm followed by flooding!

As Ahmed cycles around the five-mile-square camp he introduces us to some of the other inspirational children who live there and we see the reality of life in a refugee camp from a child’s unique point of view,.

FRAME (Beirut), 15-38 Réseau Med (Marseille), Institute Apis (Ljubljana), Jordan  Pioneers (Amman), and L’Etoile du Sud (Batna),have teamed up to bring you the 2017 Photo Marathon. Across the world, photographers will take to the streets to simultaneously document 12 secret themes in 12 hours resulting in a collection of photos depicting one day in the life of seven cities. Together, we will document our people and communities to produce a rich documentary archive. By focusing our efforts and imaginations through one collective eye, we hope to trigger dialogue and to uncover the many similarities and differences which encircle our sea.

A series of themes will be developed in collaboration with organizing partners. The idea of this project is to support and empower the local photography scene locally and put Jordan on the map in these activities.
